Do Sharks Have Personalities

Skyler the shark guy with the great white of dogs, the Great Dane. This dog can easily kill people...does that mean we should fear it and kill it?Great Danes - the Great Whites of dogs

Several of the people I've interviewed have referred to sharks as the dogs of the ocean.  Is this a fair comparison?  I think so, in fact, I think of great whites and the Great Danes of the ocean; they are big, amazing, completely capable of killing you, but exceptionally calm by comparison to others in their respective animal class.

Fear often stems from a lack of familiarity and/or understanding of the source of the fear.  This is another way sharks and dogs are similar.  The sheer size of a Great Dane will scare many people who haven't been around them before, and while they can kill you, they won't 99.9% of the time.  The same is true of sharks except that the approach to dealing with our fear of sharks is too often by killing them.

So, if we're gonna compare sharks to dogs does this mean sharks have personalities?  And if so, does that mean they are intelligent.  Recent studies have provided scientific arguments to back of the notion that sharks have personalities.  However, I still like the approach of observing the animals in the wild VS lab tests.
