I've seen this multiple times in South Africa and Guadalupe (this is footage I shot in Guadalupe)..A seal swimming around the boat and cages, almost leisurely, while multiple white sharks are around. Sometimes they follow the sharks, perhaps playing, perhaps staying away from the front end of the shark...but I've never seen one pursued, much less killed. Is it that hard to catch a seal if it's not an ambush? I used to think "yes", until I saw the video on the right. |
Craziest footage of a predation next to a boat I've ever seen (not counting full breaches on lured decoys in False Bay). I've seen seals swimming next to the shark cages on multiple occasion without seeming to be concerned about the sharks. This one was wrong. |

A "cleaned-up" and hollowed out version of the original WSV logo |
|
The first shirt with Jaws on the front. Features the full set of Jaws rather than just teeth. The back says, "Sharks don't kill people, people do", making a statement about sharks and mankind without the bolder and harsher humor of the "I kill people" shirts. |
|
Making a statement...not necessarily the perspective people are accustomed to. |

Earth's most dangerous animal rears it's ugly head again, this time in the form of proactively hunting earth's most feared animal. The killing of an endangered species (supported by Australia's government) is one of the most idiotic wildlife tragedies to occur in recent history. Learn why this action not only doesn't help, but is harmful, then add your name and voice.
|
A take on the "modern" logo with a "shattered" look. The back features a set of full Jaws and the statement "Sharks don't kill people, I kill people." |
|
The shirt from my first gallery show, "The Price of Existence." Features an abstract image of a great white bursting through the surface while the back features a filled in version of the "modern" WSV logo. |

For WSV fans with a darker, drier sense of humor |

Sometimes the original is the best. The "toothy" integration of the letters 'W', 'S', and 'V'...this continues to be the most popular design. |

"The Farallon Islands" WSV shot and edited this video for the Gulf of the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center in 2006. The Faralonnes are a mysterious place that time seems to have forgotten. These islands are home once a year to a wide range of migrating animal species not to mention a favorite feeding ground for some of the largest great whites in the world. (footage shot and edited by White Shark Video)
WSV traveled to Ano Nuevo National Park to observe northern elephant seals mating and giving birth along the California Coast. The pups of this massive creatures have been known to gain 300 lbs a week before heading out to the ocean. An adult elephant seal can weigh 5,000 lbs and have been known to kill rival males during mating season. This is the favorite prey of the great white shark. By comparison humans are an easy catch...but not one worth pursuing. |
"White Dream" is an artistic short film abstract and ambient in nature which plays upon the irrational fears and obsessions humans hold with great white sharks. This film also pays tribute to Andre Hartman, the man who pioneered open water interaction with great whites without the protection of a cage.
This film was a graduate school project and features borrowed footage as well as original footage.
"Swimming in Shark Alley" This short film documents a season in Gansbaai, South Africa discovering the true nature of great whites. Shark videographer, Lalo Saidy, takes WSV's Skyler Thomas to Shark Alley to swim unprotected in a high traffic hunting ground of white sharks. Is it possible to survive such a foolish adventure?
