Yes, this happened on an intern trip
I got my start with white sharks thanks to a shark research intern program a decade ago and it changed me. I have continued to work for the conservation and knowledge of white sharks since then and have now partnered with that same program to help others make a similar dream come true.
The program has come a long way since my first experience and now offers so much that it's almost unbelievable this opportunity exists. I have just left from reviewing the program and here's what happened for me in only a week:

- Almost daily trips to watch white sharks around the cage dive boat and possibly witness natural predations around seal island. On these trips you learn the individual sharks by their markings, size, and specific "personalities". I'm not kidding, these sharks really are individuals.
- Scuba diving with other local species of sharks and other marine animals that also exist in the area.
- Wine tasting at a local winery with the team.
- Learning how to present your own conservation message to tourists.
- building lifelong friendships and in some cases finding business partners to launch your own conservation companies.
- Starting and ending every day with a sunrise and sunset over the ocean that you are housed next to.
- Enjoying presentations from local researchers.
- Road trips up and down the South Africa coast to see more of it's natural wonders.
